Four different grids converge at the site. Instead of picking one, a new ordering system was created based off the river. One hundred feet wide strips were superimposed on the site. At points where the river turns, a new grid is created. The site was divided into plots based on these 'dense' and 'open' sections related to the river.

Strategy

Each plot was re-coded three times, developing three potential strategies to predict and design a new public landscape.

one :: Recoding based on initial coding system was found to be limiting because qualitites that were found to be less desirable were given zero value and did not infuence plot selection.

two :: Recoding with negative value plaed on less flexible qualities, such as irrigated surgace and residential landuse was found to be incomplete because the total plot area or acreage was not considered.

three :: Recoding strategy two values divided by acreage of each plot. Plots were given staging numbers with the highest numbered plots being purchased and reprogrammed first.
